Re: [EP] Evil Portents Unicorn Previews

I'm very confused by Chinua's wording, so it bows anything with no attachments?

The other is conditional to higher force and nonhuman and Phoenix?!

Re: [EP] Min-Hee Sensei

I'm neutral about this card. Losing early unopposed is bad against certain builds (e.g. Honour running, attrition military). Fair to say an entire redesign of philosophy is needed to optimise this sensei. I picture a mix of the most efficient infantry/cav guys with range attacks and movement as the ...

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

I notice you have Contentious Terrain for your terrain Meta. Have you tested Lakeside Retreat? I find them fantastic vs. Fear, Standing Fast, etc. And an assigned Nobunaga loves one after his ranged attack. Great suggestion, i should give it a try! The trade-off is sometimes Contentious can help ta...

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

Outside of that 1 game i loss very badly to Crane Control, i did not have a chance to play against it again the last week. I believe i had made sufficient adjustments to make a game out of it (combination of play style change + open unbows), but my suspicion is the odds are still not going to great....

Re: Honour rockets (Crane and Phoenix)

Yes, they are a real problem, have a look at my deck list for tweaks i made against the control variant. Basically Sakuhachis of Airs, Madness unbow holding, Call to Battles, smaller cheaper bodies, and more elements of pkill (range) etc... can help. FULL cav lineup, make them chase you, as they wil...

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

Had good success with this new variant after some tweaks in my local monthly tourney (which have 12-14 attendance). The deck played in the finals in consecutive months, and won one of them. Sole loss was to Crane Control Honor Running that i was not expecting to see (locally). The only close game wa...

Re: 2nd place, L5R monthly tournament, Auckland

I suspect primarily for focus values (for some of these cards) as you had also picked up. We have a dedicated Dragon Duelling deck here as well, so if the focus aren't obscene, the duels are all blank against that matchup. Additionally, a few of the military decks here (including myself), plays item...

Re: 2nd place, L5R monthly tournament, Auckland

I really like seeing local environments, your and kci's meta looks so strange to me! It looks strange to me sometimes too :D We tend to be very heavy military more often than not. Occasionally honor will be featured by there is a heavy bias towards military. As Unicorn player(s), we often see Manti...

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

Had quite a disastrous outing last night, lost most of my games (which is rare). Some of the tweaks against honor had hurted the deck more than i expected, so i am going with a slightly different suite. Shakuhachi of Airs gone in, after some testing, this is better than other options because of thin...

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

Run Discovering the Shakabuchi of Air, it really helps in that matchup. You could also consider Ide Kosaka, but it will lower your force average slightly. I may have to include Shakabuchi, i think Kosaka is a little overkill. I am trying to see if the subtler changes like holding unbow and cheaper ...

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

Received a dose of reality over a new monthly tourney we just established here in NZ. The deck finally got tested against dedicated honor decks. Had a game against PHX honor, that was very close but I managed to pull out the win without any honor meta. It was more of a battle action build with cav g...

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

TotHC had been an amazing production accelerator for the decks I had put it into, obviously you have to have quite a bit of attachments in the deck to utilize it (over the opponent turn). It's hard to quantify how much it helps in winning games for me, but gut feel is it is one of the major contribu...

Re: Siege: Clan Wars - Otaku Kamoko, Seven Thunder

IMO, that 8HR is the kiss of death for Unicorn uniques. I wish they'd stop that. 7HR would be restrictive without being punitive and bring us in line with basically every other clan. Utaku Izimi is one such example, she's 6 GC for 4F Cav and a battle action, and still barely anybody plays her. I'd ...
