Ideas for splashing

Now that we have seen our previews (and Scorpion being the only ones that haven't dropped yet) we have a much stronger idea about how our deck(s) will play. What are our strongest options for influence splashing at this point?

FFG Organized play

FFG has announced their plans for organized play at https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/op/l5r-lcg/ I am actually really impressed with the direction that they appear to be taking, including the continuation of large tournament winners (like Winter Court) to make storyline decisions. The Hatamoto ...

So if you use her ability while honorable, she is a 7/7?

Re: Focus Focus Strike

At the beginning of Episode 5 you guys are talking about the Return of Kisada art when Blake mentions that Kisada had spent a stint as Lord Sun... I'm sure people have pointed it out since then, but Kisada's son Yakamo was actually Lord Sun. Kisada couldn't have cared less about dancing eternally wi...

I don't see it getting much use right now, but it might see more mileage in a year or so if/when janky combos start popping up.

Re: 1st Place - Matthews, NC Kotei 2015

I have played a number of speed games like you described, and I actually find them quite fun. It's like playing chess on a clock - you don't have much time to think about your moves, so you are running more on instinct. Yes, you will make mistakes that you wouldn't have by playing slower, but so doe...

Re: FFG buying L5R

The last I heard is that they were done developing both Blackest Storm and Onyx, as well as most (if not all) of the design work done for the 1st onyx expansion - The Rise of Jigoku. If they do get approval from FFG to distribute the PDFs, then that is a huge chunk of cards for us to mess around wit...

Re: FFG buying L5R

I have played many FF games, and complexity is definitely not something that they shy away from. Also, since there are a number of former L5R players/employees at FFG, I would imagine that they will be a big part of the development team. If we are going to play the "designer wins" game though, this ...

Re: FFG buying L5R

Another thought that I just had: will the LCG cards be compatible with the CCG cards, or will the new format make them completely separate from each other? *Le sigh*

Re: FFG buying L5R

This is the most troubling part for me: The current incarnation of the Legend of the Five Rings CCG will be complete with the release of the Evil Portents expansion from AEG. After that release, the game will go on hiatus until FFG relaunches Legend of the Five Rings as a Living Card Game®, or LCG. ...

Re: So... The Colonies?

While I agree with your overall point, Kinou, I must object to this: This doesn't even count control decks. Dishonor decks have the obvious approach that you mentioned, but even political honor decks can be called out because they dominantly just want to push you away or avoid you until they win. T...

Re: So... The Colonies?

I can understand your desire to change others perception of the Unicorn, but I agree that you are basically branding yourself as a purple lion. They also use movement tactics when it suits their purpose, but they prefer to face their opponents in direct combat. The Dragon seem to have a similar appr...

Re: So... The Colonies?

It seems to me that without additional information, our path choices were just a formality and we are being pigeon-holed into the Arm the Peasants choice. If we are already on the road from the shadowlands burning our holdings (good bye Open Hand, Open Road option) and are relocating to the colonies...

Because they need us. Our are the eyes that show them the value of new experiences. And we need them because we are all part of the same great family. It's a dysfunctional family, but a family nonetheless, and every member is needed for the sake of each other.

Re: Thunderous Acclaim - Meta, Favor and Consistency

I imagine it depends largely on your local meta, in mine I go first regularly (4 out of 4 games in last nights mini-tourny), so it doesn't make much sense for me, though I do like the production boost over TotHC. I'm on the fence with TotHC now. Buying holdings on your opponents turn is a fairly ne...

Re: The 13th Scroll Event and Bounties

Hey, if you want to blast the Phoenix Champion and strip the soul of a Kami out of her withered form by use of some of the darkest magic around, feel free. It'll certainly validate the idea that maybe the Unicorn have a spiritual impurity problem that needs looking into. Who says I would use a Unic...
